How do you like your eggs? Fertilized?

I remember in my intro to cooking class in high school the teacher telling us that it’s always best to crack one egg in a bowl and move it to another so as not to contaminate the whole lot with a rotten egg. Maybe it’s my penchant for living life dangerously but I’ve never put much stock into that philosophy. For the countless times in my life I’ve cracked more than one egg into the same bowl I’ve never had an issue other than the potential for an extra bowl to wash. I tried to bring my daredevil attitude with me to Rwanda but I think it’s time to abandon ship and take up a new credo. I was making stir fry last night and it came time to throw in the egg.  I had two and thought, “Why not live it up tonight?” So, with an air of extravagance about me I cracked both eggs into one bowl. First egg done I felt confident about my life choices. Second egg and all seemed great until I noticed some discoloration. Red and black generally aren’t colors I like to see in my egg yolk. I’ve eaten all hues of yolk in this country but that was due to the inability of Rwandans to adequately gauge a soft or hardboiled egg over an intense fire, but who can blame them? Further inspection and paranoia, I decided what I was staring at has (had) the potential to stare back at me in several weeks time. Meanwhile the stir fry was beckoning. I went to pour the egg/fetus in my compost bucket only to have it slip out of my hand and onto the wall. From now on I’m a two egg bowl kind of guy.
